The Resource Center for Students with Children at Portland State University seeks to acclimate new students, provide connections to financial aid, and host fun events for students with children trying to attain their degrees. For over three years, I was lucky enough to work with them in expanding their brand and identity, making a wide array of posters, social media images, displays, and fun projects for kids to play around with.

The Resource Center for Students with Children also oversees several departments around campus, including the areas where students can obtain child care. Little Vikings is a drop-in childcare facility on the Portland State University campus essential for providing short-term care for the children of students, faculty, and staff who can't afford the prohibitive costs of full-day care facilities. I had the opportunity to create this new organization’s identity and to grow alongside it. In developing this brand, I worked to find a balance of expressive characters and elements that children would love, while also maintaining a sense of clarity alongside a welcoming atmosphere for the adults who care for them. I also had to contend with the expectation that this facility would grow over time, so creating modular characters, elements, and icons to future-proof was essential. Also, fun. I had to make sure it looked fun!
